This is the white paper I wrote while I was with Dell-EMC. Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS) is basically an appliance that acts a “cloud” to store massive amounts of data. As a cloud solution, obviously ECS is extremely scalable — to multiple and even geographically distributed racks.
This paper details the architecture of ECS, which is a software-defined enterprise cloud storage platform that employs a hyper-converged, scale-out storage system using commodity hardware. ECS is a multi-protocol, distributed storage fabric that stores/manages data as objects.
