Chinese society is leapfrogging the west and embracing the latest technologies without any reservations. Here is a quick slideshow that shows robots in hospitals, train stations, airports etc. There are “robocops” or robot security guards on the road, quietly moving around and mingling with the crowds. There are autonomous delivery vehicles that bring coffee or postal packages. Everything is turning self-driving — cars, buses, trains, road sweepers, tractors, you-name-it. Speech recognition, face recognition, artificial intelligence, robots, drones … they are all over China now. It may sound Orwellian, but there’s no way of turning back. We will have them eventually in the West as well…
